It was a hard fought game yesterday with the Predators and Hurricanes. The Hurricanes managed to get the tight 3-2 victory in overtime to take a 3-2 lead in the series.

The Leafs also beat the Habs 4-0 which has caused the Canadian media to go into overdrive; declaring them the best Leafs yet, killer instinct etc. Christ it’s one game – it’s like they never even watched the game just 24 hours before.

Either way they’re up 3-1 and look to wrap up the series soon. Game 5 is tomorrow.

We’ve got three Game 6’s today as the Islanders host the Penguins, Lightning host the Panthers and Wild host the Knights. The Knights are the only road team with the series lead.

Islanders vs Penguins Game 6 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Islanders were down 2-1 after 3 games but have won 2 straight and now have a chance to win the series at home in this game.

If the Isles can keep the game low scoring, which they have been able to do most of the year, they have a good shot at winning this game.

I originally picked the Penguins to win the series but the Islanders have been amazing and deserve to win this series.

Graeme: I really thought Penguins were a team I could take with confidence in this series. However they really are making me doubt that as they are on the verge of elimination.

Now the Islanders have managed to take the game home. Home ice was one of the big factors for me for the Pens and they’ve managed to lose twice there.

They’re also going to get 9k fans in here so there is even more reason to perform.

Penguins were unlucky in that last game though. They were dominant and just very, very, unlucky. 16 high danger chances to 5 for example. 85 to 43 Corsi etc.

Despite the result, I liked the way the Penguins played in that last one.

I really want to back the Pens here. I just can’t bring myself to do it at the price. If it was something like 2.20 I would. If they come in with the same sort of performance from that last game I think they can do it.

Just for excitement on the game, I’m going to go with Penguins to Win incl OT. I don’t think the odds are worth it though. If anything – the better value is on the Islanders.

Lightning vs Panthers Game 6 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Panthers started Spencer Knight who made his playoff debut and he was great.  He made 36 saves and held the Lightning to only 1 goal.

The Lightning can see that if they don’t get to Knight now then the series may slip away from them.  They will need to find a way to not only get to him but win.  If they drop this game then the Panthers can force a game 7 at home.

Graeme: It was awesome seeing the Panthers force a Game 6. Solid performance by Spencer Knight.

By the metrics, Panthers have generally been the better team for most of the series.

This one really seems like it could go either way. I’ll give Tampa the edge of course due to being at home. I do think they’ll wrap it up here. But I don’t mind a mathematical play on Panthers to win incl OT if Knight in net at all.

Knights vs Wild Game 6 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Knights were up 3-1 but the Wild won game 5 and can now force a game 7 with a win tonight in Minnesota.

The Knights need to do what they did in games 2, 3 and 4 and that’s play good defensively.   Over those 3 games the Wild only scored 3 goals.

The Knights can’t let this get to a game 7 so I expect them to have a better game and win this one and move onto the next round.

All Knights wins in the series were in regulation so I’ll take them to do that here.

Knights win in regulation

Everyone Else: 2.10 Odds at Bet365 (Americans: We recommend http://www.bovada.lv.

Graeme: The Wild are slight underdogs here. The odds seem right on the money for me. I do like Scotts idea though of going for that added value in regulation.

I just have no game thoughts at all for this one. The games have been drastically different from what we’ve seen on the regular season. Knights have generally been the more dominant team in every metric.

I feel like the Knights wrap it up here. They’re a more solid outfit. But I warned the Wild could surprise at the beginning of the series and they’ve already did that a couple of times. Backs were against the wall in the last game and they were able to get the win. Would not shock me if they do it again.

One of those where I can strongly argue for either team to win so we’ll have to go with a No Bet. I had a look at the player props but nothing stood out for me there either.

I had Pens & Knights for the series and with things hanging in the balance am content to let it ride and stay away from the games. Most of my betting has been over at the IIHF where the Swiss totally shit the bed yesterday. 1-1 so far today. Kaz covered +1 by winning 3-2 but the Danes couldn’t keep up with the Russkies, who now have Samsonov, off his loss to my Bs, in net. Orlov and Tarasenko will be playing next game for them which will give them a boost of morale and talent. I like GB to cover spread in late games today.

No bets. Never on Pens, can’t trust the Knights game to game, and the comedians in Tampa tonight fluctuate all over the place. Transitioning off NHL with WNBA, MLB (it’s very high risk because of such inconsistent hitting), MLS a little bit. Still in the process of looking at the horses to see how that should be approached. I only bet on the horses in the first half off the season. CFL is just around the corner too!
