As I said yesterday – there’s just something very difficult about winning four in a row. The Panthers experienced that for the second time this playoffs, as they failed to sweep the Carolina Hurricanes.
It felt like a very weak game for the Panthers, who registered just a 1.28 xGF and a 3 HDCF which is the lowest they have registered in the entirety of the 2024-2025 season. In both categories.
Will the Canes be able to use this momentum, after breaking the hoodoo, and make a series of this?
Probably not. But as a hockey fan, I really hope so. Give me Game 7s all round.
Oilers vs Stars Game 4
Scott: The Oilers have won their 2nd game in a row and this one was 6-1. This was a reminder as to why this team is scary. McDavid scored twice, Hyman scored twice and had an assist and Kane and Nugent-Hopkins both had 3 assists.
Skinner was decent and is now 4-4 and this win was his first in these playoffs that wasn’t a shutout.
I had picked the Stars to win the series and I haven’t been worried about that pick until now. The way the Oilers offense showed up is intimidating and as long as Skinner can be solid they have a shot to win every night.
I have no idea who wins game 4. The Stars will need help from the whole roster if they want to keep up with the Oilers. Robertson scored his first goal of these playoffs for the Stars in game 3 and they will need him to keep going for sure.
Robertson over 1.5 shots
Graeme: I mean I may as well just copy/paste what I wrote on May 25th.
Oilers have the momentum, which has been a big factor for them in the playoffs so far – especially that Kings series. Skinner coming off that shutout and there is that confidence – plus the offense. I feel good in Oilers in Regulation.
Has much changed? I’d normally be a tad concerned when a goalie rocking shutouts conceded a goal, but the defense did a great job after that Stars goal, and Dallas looked absolutely depleted.
And even if that is the turnaround point for the Oilers back end, in a negative way, they still have the offense which is firing on all cylnders.
So yeah I’m fine with Oilers in Regulation. For some reason I do feel a tad less confident than I do in Game 3. But Dallas are struggling hard at both ends of the ice right now.
Hmm.. Ok. That did sting a bit last night (or wakening up to that). BUT. Saw the game high lights and what I hang my hat on, on that match is that they were not tumbled over 3-0. It was a 1 goal game until empty net goals killed the game. Panthers had chances like the other games and a shot of the post at 0-1 so could have been a “round up” game also if the margins had been in their favour. Well well.. Thats why hockey is so fun to watch. 😅 you earn your luck, which Canes did last night. 🎩 off to that!
Tonight I Will keep to my post from the other night about Stars away record. 5/6 latest away games lost. ALL with more than one goal. And Oilers fireing theoughout the entire team.
Oilers ml, reg, -1, -2 🥳
I didn’t watch the game, I figured it was over before it started. I know that closeout games can be the toughest, but Carolina hadn’t shown the potential, and Florida was running them off the board. Perhaps Florida has some play-through injuries or fatigue they want to repair immediately and slacked off a little, in favor of being at full capacity in the next game. If any game in the series was going to be weird within the context of a Florida series win, that was it. But will we see Carolina win the next game? I’m not betting on that one.
Dallas has to adjust to Edmonton, but they haven’t done that yet. Which Dallas players might show us something new, and how will that affect the game result? The Oilers are flying and figured out their playoff approach long ago. The Oilers scoring depth is obvious, they skate, they have a solid defense and learned how to generally stay out of the penalty box. Brown and Ekholm might be back for Game 5. Watch for that.
I have to think the Oilers win here; Regulation or moneyline, but not going puckline, although that’s a possibility too, I’m just taking it easy today.
