The Washington Capitals now find themselves in a bad way as they’re 3-1 down to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The teams made it another excellent but close game in a row, with the Penguins taking this one in overtime, thanks to a great assist by Mike Weber!

It’s got to be frustrating for the Capitals as they’re struggling to get the puck past Murray. The Penguins zonal defense is tremendous too and it’s really hard to get anything past them.

Hopefully the Capitals can pick themselves up and pull it back to 3-3 because with how close the games have been, a Game 7 between these two would be just incredible.

Today is Thursday, May 5th and we’ve got two games on the board tonight. It all kicks off with the Blues at home to the Stars, with St. Louis leading 2-1 in the series after that huge Game 3 win. Can the Predators tie up their series in Nashville? They got a great win against the Sharks in Game 3 and will be hoping momentum is on their side.

Blues vs Stars Game 5 Betting Tips:

Graeme: Last time out I went with the Over 5 and won. Of course my reasoning was off as I touted the Stars offense more – but hey, a win is a win. Either way I have to go that way again. Stars will hopefully have more life in them. Over 5 Goals.

Canada: 1.74 Odds at Pinnacle Sports.
Everyone Else: 1.74 Odds at Pinnacle Sports.

Scott:  The Stars are having issues with which goalie to start.  After game 3 and the Blues pounding the Stars 6-1 they will need to figure this out before the series gets away from them.   The last game got heated at the end and that plays right into the Blues hand.  After last game and with the Blues still at home I like them to come away with the win tonight.

Blues Win

Canada: 1.71 Odds at Pinnacle Sports.
Everyone Else: 1.71 Odds at Pinnacle Sports.

Sharks vs Predators Game 5 Betting Tips:

Graeme: In probably every road game the Sharks have had, I’ve touted up their road form this season. One loss on the road isn’t going to change that. A big factor in the last game was special teams.

I could easily see the Preds winning. Momentum and confidence is on their side. But I find it hard to write off the Sharks road form at the moment. Sharks to win.

Scott:  The Preds came away with the 4-1 win in game 3 and that was all thanks to their special team play.  2 powerplay goals and they killed off 4 penalties.  I like the Sharks to bounce back tonight and show why they’re the best road team in the league.

Sharks Win

Canada: 1.99 Odds at Pinnacle Sports.
Everyone Else: 1.99 Odds at Pinnacle Sports.

‘under 5,5 and blues win. after stars let 6 goals in i think they are gonna focus on deffence first so it is going to be a low scoring game

predators win with over 1,5 goals

Gents – from your stats is betting on NHL more profitable during the regular season or playoffs?

The reason I ask is that I’m finding the playoffs a nightmare to win money! Keep bloomin losing!

Playoffs have been more profitable for us historically. I think a large part of that is with so few games we’re so much more focused on them etc.

Playoff betting can be very tricky too though and with so few games you might feel you’re being “forced’ to bet and that could be hurting your record.

McDavid to score most points in the WHC = 11.50 odds

That’s pretty darn good if you ask me. Remember when Crosby played his first tournament as a young kid ? ;D
