A full night of hockey yesterday and we had 1 tip.
We had the Sabres to beat the Canucks but it was the Canucks winning 5-4. The win snapped the Canucks losing streak at 3 games. The Sabres stayed in this game as the were down 2-1 after the 1st and 5-2 halfway through the 2nd. This was the Sabres 6th loss in a row.
The Leafs beat the Penguins 5-2 and Tavares scored again. It’s weird to see the Leafs doing pretty well and Matthews has been quiet when it comes to scoring goals, at least for his standards. Murray picked up his first win as a Leaf.
The Devils beat the Canadiens 5-1 and for the Devils this was their 10th straight win. The Sharks beat the Knights 5-2 and for the Knights this was their 2nd loss in a row and their first losing streak of the season.
Only 3 games today.
Sabres vs Senators
The Sabres played last night and lost but they didn’t give up and stayed in the game right until the end. The Sens are in 8th place in the Atlantic and have gone 2-7-1 over their last 10.
The Sabres need to snap their 6 game losing skid and when they are taking on a team who is also struggling they should jump at the opportunity. But the same can be said for the Sens who are 2-7-1 over their last 10.
When both teams aren’t playing very good it makes it hard to predict a winner. It’s an easy pass for me on this one.
Blues vs Blackhawks
Long time rivals here.
The Blues have won 3 in a row but sit in 8th in the Central. They are ranked 32nd in GPG with 2.43, 27th in GAPG allowing 3.57 and 25th in shots per game averaging 30.
The Hawks are 6-6-3 and in 5th in the Central. They rank 30th in GPG and 14th in GAPG. They average only 25.8 shots per game.
So as you can see both teams are having a rough season so far. Looking back on previous games between these teams and we have to go back to February of 2020 to find a high scoring game.
There isn’t anything I like enough from this game to make a tip. I would lean towards the Blues to win but it would need to be in regulation and 2 of the 3 games of their win streak were decided by 1 goal.
Kings vs Oilers
Similar records here. The Kings are 10-7-1 and in 2nd in the Pacific. The Oilers are in 4th in the Pacific going 9-7.
Both teams aren’t having problems scoring goals with the Kings ranked 11th averaging 3.33 per game and the Oilers are ranked 3rd with 3.69.
A problem both teams are having is stopping teams from scoring with the Kings allowing 3.5 per game and the Oilers 3.63 which is both near the bottom of the league.
All of the Oilers games this month have been high scoring except for one. The Kings last 2 games have been high scoring.
With that being said and the goals for and against for both teams I think the over has a good shot.
