Only 3 games yesterday and we had 1 tip.  We went with over 6.5 in the Kings vs Oilers game.  This didn’t come through when the Kings won 3-1.  Moore scored his first career hat trick for the Kings.

The Blues picked up their 4th win in a row when they beat the Blackhawks 5-2.  The Sens beat the Sabres 4-1 which was Buffalo’s 7th straight loss.

So many games tonight its nuts to go from 3 to 13 but let’s get to it.  Have a 6 year old home sick today so these may be a little short.

Flyers vs Bruins

The Flyers have dropped 4 straight and the Bruins have won 4.

The Bruins are in 1st place in the league and are also in 1st in GPG and GAPG.  They are at home for this one and they have gone 9-0.

The Bruins are 7-2-1 in their last 10 against the Flyers.

The Bruins have been incredible and the Flyers have scored only 6 goals in their last 3 games.

To get any value on the Bruins we have to take them -1.5 and I’m fine doing that.

Bruins -1.5

(Odds correct as of 2022/11/17 9:23:40 AM EST but are subject to change.)

Canadiens vs Blue Jackets

The Habs are in 6th in the Atlantic but this is a tough division.   The Jackets are in 8th in the Metro.

Both teams are bad for allowing goals with the Habs ranked 21st and the Jackets 32nd.

Both teams have been hit hard with injuries.   The Jackets are now without Voracek who will be out for a while, Laine who is out for about a month and Werenski who is done for the year.  With so many injuries to key players you would think this should be a game the Habs win.

With the Habs winning 3 of their last 4 games and 3 of their last 5 road games taking on a banged up Jackets it’s worth the risk.

Canadiens win incl OT/SO

Avalanche vs Hurricanes

On paper this is a huge game.  Both teams are in 3rd place in their respective divisions.

Both teams are in the top 10 for goals against per game so I’m put off of the Over with both playing well in that department.

I would lean towards an Avalanche win but the Canes are no push over.  Even with Andersen out they have been getting solid goaltending from Raanta and Kochetkov.

Stars vs Panthers

The Stars are in 1st place in the Central and are on the road here where they have gone 5-3-2.  The Panthers are in 3rd in the Atlantic and are at home where they have gone 5-1-1 this season.

This should be a good game and the Panthers are the favorites here. But with the way the Stars have been playing its should be closer that the odds would suggest.  I’m skipping

Flames vs Lightning

Both teams are on 2 game win streaks.

The Flames 3-5-2 over their last 10 which isn’t that great considering they are one of the better teams in the league.   The Lightning are 6-3-1 over their last 10.

The Flames are the road team here and although they haven’t played a bunch away from Calgary they still have a rough road record going 1-2-1.  The Lightning are home where they have gone 5-2-1.

Both teams have strong goalies who both have been in the mix for the Vezina Trophy the last few seasons but either have been up to that level yet this season.  I have to skip.

Devils vs Leafs

The Devils have won 10 straight and they have no real weaknesses.  They are in 2nd in goals per game, 2nd in shots per game and 3rd in goals against per game.

The Leafs have won 2 in a row and are at home where they have gone 6-2-1.

It’s hard to bet against the Devils right now as they look to be the real deal.  But the Leafs are a team that could use this game as a way to go on a win streak.  If they can beat the Devils that is going to give them some great momentum going forward.  I’ll for sure be watching this game but I can’t tip it.

Islanders vs Predators

Yeah I have no idea who wins this game.

Both have won their last 2 games.  The Isles road record this season is 5-3, the Preds home record is 4-3-1.

I would lean towards and Isles win but the Preds have shown that they can win against strong teams.

Ducks vs Jets

The Ducks are ranked 26th in GPG,  23rd in shot per game and 31st in GAPG.

The Jets are playing well defensively allowing only 2.36 per game which has them ranked 2nd in the league.

The Jets are at home here where they have played well going 5-1.

All signs points to a Jets win and I would lean towards them to win but to get any value on them it needs to be -1.5 and I don’t have the confidence in that play.

Capitals vs Blues

The Caps have gone 3-5-2 over their last 10 games.  They have gone 2-6-1 on the road this season.

The Blues have won 4 in a row but are at home for this one where they have gone 2-4.

The Blues are slight favorites here but with them playing last night you have to wonder if they will be 100% and fatigue won’t catch up to them.

Penguins vs Wild

Both teams are one 2 game losing skids and both have failed to live up to the expectations they had.

The Pens are 2-6-2 over last 10 and are in 7th in the Metro, the Wild have gone 5-4-1 over their last 10 and are in 4th in the Central.

Either team has impressed me yet and the odds are basically a coin toss so I’m happy to skip this one.

Coyotes vs Knights

The Coyotes are towards the bottom of the league in all key statistics which was expected.

The Knights are on the first losing skid of the season.  They are at home here where they have gone 5-3.

I like the Knights to get back on track but so do the sportsbooks. A play of the Knights -1.5 is still below our minimum so I have to skip.

Rangers vs Kraken

The Rangers still can’t string together consecutive strong performances.  They are 8-6-3 this season and sit in 4th place in the Metro.

The Kraken have lost 2 in a row but have a similar record as the Rangers going 8-5-3 and are in 3rd in the Pacific.

The Rangers won both meetings last season but the Kraken are a different team this year.

With the Rangers not playing very well and the Kraken playing better than expected I find this game a hard one to predict.

Red Wings vs Sharks

The Wings have lost 4 straight and the Sharks have won their last 3.

The Sharks 3 wins came against some tough teams beating the Stars, Wild and Knights.  But they are at home here where they haven’t been very good going 1-5-3.

The Wings need to get themselves back on track to avoid falling any deeper in the standings because the Atlantic Divison is fairly tight in the middle.

I want to take the Sharks to win here as the Wings are struggling losing 4 straight and allowing 17 goals over those games.  But the Sharks haven’t giving me a bunch or confidence with their home record.

Western RattlersD

No bets.
A quick look at the games shows me conflicting data all over the place, and I don’t have time today to look deeper at the games. It’s November, so no sweat anyway. Still a little too soon to determine good patterns in the NCAAB, most soccer is on a long break, so time for a coffee.

ASLE MARTINSEN

Habs in Regulation
Bruins -2.5
Devils incl OT/SO
Wild – Penguins Under 6 in Regulation
Avalanche incl OT
Lightning in Regulation
Jets -1.5
Golden Knights -1.5 (low odds)

Jackets are struggling and too many players are injured. Habs are looking way better than last season. I think we should disregard they getting stomped by the Devils, as the Devils look out of this world right now.

I don’t like betting -2.5, but Bruins have looked so good, and the Flyers have lost 4 in a row. 1 was in OT, but the 3 previous ones (incl Jackets) the -2.5 against them would have won.

Devils are looking too good, and they’ve lost only 1 away game. Leafs lost 3 at home, 2 of them in their last 3 home games, and the Canucks win wasn’t convincing either. If they give up a 2 goal lead to this Devils team in the first period I don’t see them recovering.
Devils do seem to have it figured out this season, though they’ve not played the best teams over their 10 game win streak.
I’ll ride with them until they lose a game.

Wild are averaging 3 goals at home, Penguins are averaging 3 goals away. Wild’s 7 last games have ended at 5 goals or less. They’re bound to go over again sooner or later, but the I don’t think this game is set to have tons of goals, even if both teams have been performing way under par. I don’t like betting on the Under, but in this game I think it’s okay.

I still think Avs is the best team in the league. They had a 4-1 win against the Canes a few days ago, but even if that was at home, I still think it’s convincing enough to pull the away win.
I also think the Canes seem like a team that generally gets their points against the worse teams. Even more so this season.
Could have done it in Regulation, but the odds are good enough to include OT/SO, so why not.

Lightning have won half their home games in Regulation. The last 4 games between these two have gone to the home team in regulation, and 3 of them have been in Tampa. Flames lost half their away games in Regulation, though it’s a small sample size.

Jets average 3.5 goals at home with 1.33 goals against.
Ducks just look bad. Really bad. They only have 2 wins away, and both are SO wins against Sharks. They have 1 OT loss away against the Bruins. 6 of their 9 away games were lost by 2 or more. They actually have 4 games with 3 or more as well. The -2.5 actually looks good here too.
But the -1.5 seems like a safe bet.

Golden Knights lost their last 2, both at home against relatively bad opponents so far this season (Blues & Sharks), and I think they’ll bounce back today.
Coyotes.. Don’t think anyone’s expecting much from them this season, and even though the pulled out 3 away wins on this road trip, they’ve lost the last 2.
Besides, I still like the Knights. I said I wasn’t gonna back them until they performed again, but I don’t see them losing 3 home games in a row against 3 of the 5 worst teams in the West.
The odds are a bit low here though, so I’m not gonna include this one on the main bet for the day, but I’ll put them on the 10 game accumulator.
-1.5 for this one. Don’t think I’d go for the -2.5 here.

ASLE MARTINSEN

If Habs only played as well as they did at 2-3 today.. Damn.

I’m not gonna bet on Jets again. They had the puck and could have put the 4-2 on an open net, but they tried to get it to Connor because he scored all 3 of their goals, instead of just putting the 4th, and they failed at that. I will despise them for a long time, as this made my system win drop from 850 to 100 bucks.

The Wild – Penguins last period was just.. Wild. Was definitely not expecting that one!

Bruins -2.5, Lightning in Regulation, and Devils and Avs in OT was good though. 4-3 for the evening so far with 1 to go. Let’s see what these Knights can do in the 2nd period!
