3 games yesterday and after Graeme killed it on Saturday night we had no tips yesterday.

The Rangers were up 2-0 after the 1st but the Wings tied it in the 2nd. A scoreless 3rd sent the game to overtime where Kubalik scored for the Wings giving them the 3-2 win.

The Leafs beat the Canes 3-1.  Tavares scored the winner and Kallgren picked up his first win of the season for Toronto.

The final game of the day was the Panthers vs the Ducks and the Panthers won 5-3

Another slow night with only 3 games.

Flames vs Islanders

The Flames have got to figure their shit out and fast.  They were projected to be a top team in the league but are now 5-4-1 and in 5th in the Pacific with 11 points where the divison leading Knights have 22.

The Isles are 7-5 but are at home here where they have been decent going 4-2-0.  The Isles aren’t a flashy team but they get the job done.  They are ranked 4th in GPG and 3rd in GAPG.

This will be only the Flames 2nd road game of the season,  they won their first 4-3 against the Oilers in October 15th.  I wonder if leaving the comfort of their homes for the next 3 games will help them become a better and closer team.

Should be a good close game and I want to take the Flames.  But with only 1 road game played so far its hard to back the Flames with so little data to go on.

Blues vs Bruins

The Blues are in a funk right now.  They have lost 6 in a row after winning their first 3 to start the season.  They rank last in the league in goals for with 2.33 per game and 28th in goals allowed with 3.89.

The Bruins lost their last game but are still 10-2 and are in 1st place in the Atlantic and 2nd overall trailing the Knights by only 2 points.  Their numbers have been impressive too leading the league in GPG with 4.45 and are tied for 4th in GAPG allowing only 2.55.  It sucks for thr Bruins the Swayman is out but Ullmark has better numbers this season so as long as he stays healthy they should be fine.

With the Bruins at home here and looking to get bounce back from that loss to the Leafs they have good shot.  They have gone 6-0 in Boston this season.  And the Blues have dropped 6 straight and with the above mentioned numbers for goals for and against this seems like it should be a game the Bruins win.

Bruins win in regulation

Oilers vs Capitals

Another year and yet another season where the Oilers have people scratching their heads.  The have the best player in the world who is averaging over 2 points per game and another who also has 2 points per game.  But they sit in 4th place in the Pacific with a 7-5 record.  They’re averaging 3 goals per game.  And it’s not like they are a one line team either as Hyman, Kane and Nugent-Hopkins are all averaging over a point per game.

The Caps have been an up and down team and are riding 4 game losing skid. They are 5-6-2 on the year and would benefit from the return of some key players like Wilson, Carlson, Backstrom, Oshie, Hagelin and Brown.   When you see the players they have out it makes their record seem not so bad.

With both teams on losing streaks it’s tough to predict a winner here and I feel better just skipping this game.

To WIN moneyline: Boston
Lean: to Win puckline: Boston
Lean: full game Over 6.0: Oilers

Nothing on the Flames, they’re changing lines and very unpredictable. The odds aren’t great for a Boston win, but the puckline comes into play with the Bruins having just lost a game, it’s at home, it’s not a back-to-back, and the Blues are so pathetic on offense. Bruins are playing so well these days. Bruins have the league’s highest goals/game, while the Blues have the lowest. Bruins have a substantially superior Penalty Kill vs the Blues. You just have to count on the Bruins NOT taking the night off.
Two problems with the Boston game: it’s going to be a big public favorite bet tonight, and it breaks the 80-20 rule where a top team plays a currently very bad team, and the possibility of the better team taking the night off is relatively high. Boston is rested, seems relatively healthy and will go into two days off before a home game against Calgary. Looks like a green light to bet on it, but I’d keep the units low.

Risky to take the Over with the Oilers, because it’s against Washington, who are never dependable. Non-Conference game. Oilers don’t have the strongest defensive numbers, so we’d have to count on the Caps getting at least a goal or two. Caps have scored 2 or fewer goals in 6 of their last 10 games. They give me the willies.

Graeme

Yeah I feel with Boston, that Leafs result certainly helps in regard to your 80-20 rule. Less likely they show up complacent.

Caps are one of those teams that yeah just seem an easy pass at the moment.

Not a good day for me yesterday. None of the home teams were able to win games where their opponents were either on B2B, 3-in-4 or last game of a road trip. Disgraceful showing, especially for the Rags and Canes. I was particularly annoyed because both teams were facing a 2nd string tendie. Ducks you’d expect that from, but the +EV on PL was too good for me to pass up. I thought I’d get there with that penalty shot getting them to within one, but Cats held on to win 5-3. I did hit the over on Ducks-Cats. Ducks’ o/u for L5 is 5-0, with 4 of 5 going 8+. On to tonight:

My Bruins are 6-0 at home and 8-2 overall. They have to be smarting from that close loss to the Leafs and will want to get back on track. The Miller thing won’t be an issue in the locker room or on the ice. Ullmark has been playing well. Conversely, Blues have lost six in a row, most recently a 5-2 setback at the hands of the Islanders on Thursday. The Bs veteran core will have this one circled because they’ll never forget their loss in the 2019 SCF. Bruins reg -140

How do the oddsmakers have the Isles as home dogs when Calgary is on a four-game winless streak (0-3-1)? I’m sure the Flames will be coming out hard but the Islanders had a five-game winning streak going before it was snapped in a 3-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. The better team is playing at home. Isles ML +110

It’s not a tip but I have .5u on Oilers reg -110. Caps are just too banged up at the moment and the Oilers have too many weapons.

Hi! Didn’t manage to write here yesterday, but thanks guys for killing it 4-0. If my calculations are correct then so far you are doing great: almost +8 units since the start of the season. Thank you for this hard work you put into this site! 🙂

Graeme

Thanks kapten. +7.28u for the season so far we track it in the sidebar and I update it usually every Sunday or Monday, time dependent.

Of course in the wonderful world of hockey it’s just as easy to go 0-4 as it is 4-0 etc. So as I always say to everyone don’t get over-confident etc when it comes to bets and so on. Bet within your means, bankroll management, etc etc 🙂
