Interesting night of hockey with some upsets happening. Its what makes the NHL the best sport in the world.

We had the Predators to win against the Blackhawks if Saros was in net.  Saros was but the Hawks picked up the 2-1 overtime win.  This was only the 2nd win for the Hawks this season.

The Red Wings beat the Knights 5-2.  The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead but the Wings responded with 4 unanswered.

The Ducks beat the Blues 4-1. The game was tied at 1-1 after the 2nd but the Ducks scored 3 in the final period to pick up the win.

The Wild beat the Islanders 5-2.  The Isles were up 2-1 after the 2nd but the Wild came alive scoring 4 in the 3rd to pick up the win.

The Canucks beat the Stars 6-3.  The Canucks went 3-6 on the powerplay after going 3-28 in the previous 7 games.

A slow Monday for us today with only 3 games.

Sabres vs Capitals Betting Tips:

Both teams come into this game on losing streaks.  The Sabres have lost their last 4 games, the Caps have dropped their last 3.

The Sabres lost to some weak teams like the Kraken and Wings where the Caps lost to some strong teams like the Lightning and the Panthers.
The Capitals are heavy favorites and the odds make this not playable.  A Caps regulation win is only 1.57, a -1.5 is only 1.96,  just not worth it.  I’ll easily skip this game

Panthers vs Rangers Betting Tips:

The Panthers have been a great team so far.  They are 10-0-1 on the year.  The Rangers have lost their last 3 games to bring their season record to 6-3-3.

The Rangers home record is 1-1-1, the Panthers are 3-0-1 on the road.

With the way the Panthers have been playing its hard to bet against them.  And the odds for them to win including overtime are good.

Panthers win incl OT/SO

Kings vs Leafs Betting Tips:

As we have mentioned before, it’s tough to bet on a game that involves the Maple Leafs.  But now that Matthews, Marner and Tavares are scoring that may change.

The Kings have won their last 4 games, the Leafs have won their last 5.  Of the Leafs last 5 wins two needed overtime and another was decided by a single goal.

The odds make this not playable.  I would lean towards Leafs but to get any value it would need to be -1.5 and with the outcomes of the games during this win streak its tough.  I’ll skip this game.

NHL First Period Betting Tips:

Win Record (Tie=Push) 0-0-1. (0u)
Over 1.5 Record: 1-1 (-0.2u)

Loss yesterday. Islanders continue their impressive 1st period streak with a late goal.

No plays today.  System thinks there is slight value in Kings/Leafs under 1.5 if looking for action but I’m still tweaking the unders aspect of it and not confident enough.  It’s only went over once in Kings last 6 games (with 4 of those zero goals).  Leafs generally slow starters too so don’t hate it.

I am going with Under in Kings/Leafs and over in Rangers/Panthers 🤞🏼

To WIN moneyline: Florida
I never bet on Caps games. Caps will then have two days off before playing Detroit and could use this situation, giving injured players time to rehab and avoid more exhaustion and injuries. Inconsistent Toronto is going to be surprised by the Kings in some way. Rangers looked out of gas and uncoordinated against the Flames, after being outskated by the Oilers the night before, and have only had one day off since. Florida is in Game #1 of a back-to-back (NJ next) and should be concerned about grabbing those 4 points and reaching a 12-0 record before facing much harsher competition on Thursday and Saturday this week.
