There was 3 games last night as the NHL season got started.

The Lightning beat the Preds 5-3.  The game was tied 1-1 after the 2nd but the 3rd period saw these two go off with 5 goals.  Paul scored twice and Point had 3 assists.

The Hawks beat the Penguins 4-2 after the Pens were up 2-0.  Bedard picked up an assist in his debut, had 5 shots and looked good. Crosby scored for the Pens in his 19th season in the league.

The Knights raised their championship banner and beat the Kraken 4-1.

There is 6 games tonight and it’s still tough to try and find winners with no games played.

Canadiens vs Leafs Betting Tips:

Well the Habs aren’t expected to do a lot this season.  They brought in Newhook but they are hoping that Suzuki, Slafkovsky and Caufield continue improving.

The Leafs are in their win now window.  Cap issues forced them to move on some key pieces.  They did add some much needed toughness in Bertuzzi, Domi and Reaves and Matthews and Marner are still in their primes.  They did get past the first round last year soI hope for the Leafs that the toughness will by what was missing and have a good playoff run.

Really bad odds here.  Sure I like the Leafs to win but we would have to take them -1.5 and I’m not doing that in their first game.

Senators vs Hurricanes Betting Tips:

The Sens lost DeBrincat, Talbot and others but brought in Tarasenko, Kubalik and Korpisalo.  They will have Chychrun for a full season and he’s part of a decent defensive group with Chabot and Sanderson.

The Canes are going to be one of the best teams in the league this season.   They have depth at each position and have arguably the best defense in the league.

I like the Canes to win and it would have to be in regulation.  With them at home I’m OK going with that.

Canes in regulation

Blackhawks vs Bruins Betting Tips:

The Hawks played last night and won.  Soderblum will get the start for the Hawks after Mrazek started last night.

The Bruins are going to be a different team this year and will be without two of the franchises best players with Bergeron and Krejci retired and Hall was traded.  The brought in van Riemsdyk, Lucicband Shattenkirk but there it no way to make up for the loss of Bergeron.

Odds favor the Bruins so much that we would have to take them -1.5 and with the roster turnover they had its an easy skip for me.

Avalanche vs Kings Betting Tips:

Should be a good game between these two teams.

The Avalanche won’t have Landeskog again due to injury but did add some depth with Drouin, Colton, Wood and Johansen.  This team is still stacked and having MacKinnon, Makar, Toews and Rantanen gives them a chance to win each game.

The Kings brought in Dubois which will give them some extra depth down the middle. But the had to move some key pieces in Vilardi, Iafallo, Edler and Korpisalo.

The odds for this are basically a coin flip and I don’t know who wins it.

Oilers vs Canucks Betting Tips:

The Oilers should be one of the top teams in the league this year.  The drought in Connor Brown to give them more depth and a full season from Evander Kane will help them too.

The Canucks have to have a better start to the season.  Last year they were 0-5-2 before picking up a win and that hole was to much for them to get out of.

The Oilers should win this game but I would have to take them in regulation.  It’s not a bad play but they are on the road so I’m a little worried.

Jets vs Flames Betting Tips:

The Jets lost Dubois and Wheeler but brought in Vilardi and Iafallo which will help to offset the losses.  They have a decent top 6 and their defense is good too with Morrissey, Pionk and Schmidt.  They also acquired Brossoit to back up Hellebuyck.

The Flames didn’t do much in the off-season and lost their leading scorer Toffoli to the Devils.  They are hoping for a bounce back year from Huberdeau which will be huge for them if he does.

It’s an easy pass here. I need to see how the Jets play with their new players and also how Huberdeau starts the year after the disaster of a season he just had.

Hello from Germany,

no wins yesterday by giving all home teams +5,5 team totals. Stupid bet, but first night fun night and with no idea what else to bet I found it nice enough to try.

Today only going with Draisaitl to score anytime.

Like the Kings to win, but not sure yet if I give this a try.

Good luck, everyone!

Ole Johan

hade Hawks O2.5 combined with Tampa ML, so a nice start. Today i agree with canes, ill put a single on them, and ill go woth oilers ML combined with O5.5 in leafs. lets go.

Today, I foresee an easy victory for the Boston Bruins against their tired opponent. The Blackhawks were lucky yesterday, taking advantage of simple tactical errors made by the Penguins and securing a nice victory. However, I don’t believe they stand a chance today against the Bruins, who I see as the favorites this season. Although I feel the score might be 5-1 in favor of the Bruins, I plan on betting on a Bruins win with a 2-goal difference.

Another favorite of mine for today is the Avalanche. Even though the Kings might appear to be the favorites, I can’t say they’ve had much luck with a good start this season. I anticipate a low-scoring game and predict the Avalanche will win 2-1. Given the high likelihood of the match going into overtime, betting on OT might be the right decision.

Now, let’s talk about the single-match ticket I’m specifically placing: Toronto Leafs vs. Montreal. In recent games, Montreal hasn’t been able to dominate their opponent. However, I believe they will break their streak of bad luck with a victory today, just as in their last encounter. To be frank, I expect this game to witness the heaviest rain of goals among tonight’s matches. I think there will be a total of 10 or more goals. My gut feeling points to a score of 7-4 in favor of Montreal.

Well, friends, these are my predictions. I wish you a successful and profitable evening. The comments I’ve made are purely my views on tonight’s games. Agreeing with my opinions and making decisions accordingly is entirely up to you.

Regards.

Just like Scott writes, I think Bedard looked pretty good. I will bet him over 3,5 shots tonight.

Good luck everyone!

Half Unit Plays

Vancouver +135

Talented Edmonton team but I do believe there is value on Vancouver at the price here. Vancouver should also have an extra sense of urgency to start their season off better after losing their first 7 games last year.

Edmonton/vancouver Goal in first 10 minutes NO +142

Two teams with above average offenses and goalies coming off poor 2022 campaigns that are looking to bounce back. The total for this game has ticked up to 7 at some spots, and my first thought was to look at the game total under. Campbell was first off ice for Edmonton, and will look to translate his preseason play into games that actually matter. Demko struggled through an injury plagued season. Both goaltenders will get first cracks at being their teams starters, but probably very short leashes for both if they struggle. Teams early focus could be a little safe to not make a mistake early before the game potentially openes up later. Key here will have to be a disciplined start, especially by Vancouver who will have to avoid taking a penalty early. If this fails to cash, I still give my self an option on looking to the live line under totals, which would tick up, or just bowing out with a half unit loss based on game flow. A slow start and a scoreless first ten minutes will allow me to avoid having to worry about both offenses being bottled up for an entire sixty minutes plus.

Chicago Bedard SOG under 3.5 at -118

There was also the under 2.5 going off at +190, but this is the safer play. While I do believe Bedard will hit plenty of shot total overs this season, there’s a lot of factors here that have me looking to the under that I can’t ignore. The back to back, the energy dump, and the amount of minutes he played less than 24 hours ago. He also was able to get his first point and win out of the way. He hasn’t gotten his first goal yet and the only one he scored in preseason was an empty netter, so I still think he’s determined until he checks that box. He possesses tons of talent so he can still get his first goal and finish with less than 4 shots today. Bedard’s under 2.5 opened up at a +140, similar to yesterday. The public is going one way and that’s overs on all things Bedard and I get it. However, they are seemingly willing to take Bedard props at any price, presenting value on the other side that I can’t ignore.

Chicago +2.5 at -160

As with most plays today, this is purely motivated on the price and value I’m getting it at. The negatives are obviously Chicago is projected to be a bottom five team, is on the road, just played yesterday, and is facing a team that broke records but still has something to prove. The goaltending matchup of Soderblom vs Ullmark is as lopsided as it gets. Chicago also trailed a less talented Pittsburgh team 2-0 at the midway point of yesterdays game before they rallied. So I’m fully aware this game could get ugly. The main thing I can’t get past is just how high Boston is priced here, and that’s what’s driving this bet for me.

Full Unit Play

LA Kings +104

I had the Kings as the slight favorite here, so seeing them go from -110 to slight plus money here makes them a play for me.

A lot of zags and hold your nose bets for me to today. But with the lines being out for so long, and no real statistical data yet, I believe the best way to attack today is when the public comes in and just drives the prices up. In theory this should allow for decent profit margins, if I can properly identify where the value is. That and of course a little bit of luck.
