Only had one tip yesterday and it didn’t come through for me.

I had the Rangers to beat the Jets but Hellebuyck was on his game stopping 40 shots and the Jets won 4-1.

The Wings shutout the Habs 3-0, the Lightning beat the Jackets 5-2 and the Canes beat the Sharks 2-1 thanks to Aho scoring with less than 2 minutes left in the 3rd.

I have to keep these short for today.  I worked last night and didn’t get home until 1am.  After taking my dog out and getting myself settled it is now coming up on 2 am so figured I would post early as I’m going to be tired when my kids wake me up at 7 am and I won’t be in the mood to get to work first thing with there being an early game.  I’m exhausted now so I hope they let me sleep in lol. No games on Sunday so after today we will be back on Monday.

Panthers vs Sabres

Panthers should have no trouble beating the Sabres.  Both teams are 1-0.

Panthers heavily favored and they barely beat the Isles so skipping this game.

Canucks vs Flyers

Canucks lost their 1st game 5-3 to the Oilers,  the Flyers won their 1st game when they beat the Devils 5-2.

Nothing here for me

Lightning vs Penguins

The Lightning are now 1-1 after winning last night against the Jackets.  The Penguins are 1-0.  The last 3 games between these teams dating back to October 2021 had goal totals of 6, 6 and 8.

Two top teams with lots of history between them.  Skipping this one and will just enjoy what’s sure to be a good one.

Red Wings vs Devils

The Wings opened their season last night and won 3-0.   The Devils are 0-1 and playing in their home opener.

Nothing I like for this game.

Canadiens vs Capitals

The Habs are 1-1 after beating the Leafs they got shutout last night by the Wings.  The Caps are 0-2 scoring 2 goals in each game.

Caps haven’t found their game yet and the Habs aren’t expected to do much yet have already beaten the Leafs.   Skipping

Coyotes vs Bruins

They Coyotes are 0-1 after losing to the Pens 6-2.  The Bruins looked good in their 1st game beating the Caps 5-2 without Marchand and McAvoy.

The Bruins are heavy favorites here and would need to take them -1.5 to barely get past out minimum and with only one game played for each I have to skip

Senators vs Leafs

Always a great game when it’s the Battle of Ontario.   The Sens are 0-1 and the Leafs 1-1.  They played twice last season with Toronto winning both the 1st 6-0 the 2nd 5-4 in OT.

Leafs got their first win and Matthews scored.  They are still at home so I like their chances.

Leafs in regulation

(Odds correct as of 2022/10/15 1:52:12 AM EST but are subject to change.)

Ducks vs Islanders

The Ducks won their first game against the Kraken 5-4 in overtime.   The Isles lost their 1st game 3-1 to the Panthers.

Another game where nothing jumps out at me so I’m skipping it.

Jackets vs Blues

The Jackets are 0-2 after losing to the Canes and the Lightning.   They really need a game against a weaker team to build some confidence. They aren’t going to get that here with the Blues who are playing their season opener .

Laine is out so would lean towards a Blues win but with it being their first action of the season I want to skip this one.

Kings vs Wild

The Kings are 0-2 after losing to the Knights and the Kraken.  The Wild have one game played and it was the 7-3 thumping they took from the Rangers.

Either team has looked very good so I have to skip.

Predators vs Stars

These teams played each other on Thursday and the Stars won 4-1 with Marchment scoring twice. The Preds are 2-1 after winning their first 2 games in Prague.  The Stars are 1-0.  Nothing I like here.

Knights vs Kraken

The Knights are 2-0 after beating the Kings and Hawks.  The Kraken are 1-0-1 after beating the Kings and losing in OT to the Ducks.

I am leaning towards a Knights win but the Kraken are at home and have a decent record for them after 2 games.

Flames vs Oilers

Battle of Alberta are great games.  The last 6 games between these teams, including playoffs were high scoring: 9, 8, 5, 8, 15 and 14.

Always great games and full of action.  Going to follow the trend of high scores.

Over 6.5 incl OT/SO

Ontario: 1.77 Odds at Sports Interaction (SIA) - Non-Ontario bet $10 get $200
Rest of Canada: 1.77 Odds at Sports Interaction (SIA) - Non-Ontario bet $10 get $200

Everyone Else: 1.76 Odds at Bet365 (Americans: We recommend http://www.bovada.lv

(Odds correct as of 2022/10/15 1:52:12 AM EST but are subject to change.)

Blackhawks vs Sharks

Hawks are 0-2 after losing to the Knights and Avalanche.

I am skipping this game as nothing jumps out at me.

florida regulation -115
deceptive final score line for buffalo in its 4-1 home opener with two empty net goals in the final minute of play.Big ask for this extremely young Buffalo team to get a result vs one of the top teams in the league this early in the season. Florida coming off an already impressive road win vs the islanders. expect them to keep rolling.

reinhart to score +155
high goal total of 7 for this game. florida rolled three lines with the fourth line seeing limited ice time. it also rolled the first power play unit seeing them get nearly triple the amount of man advantage ice time as the second unit. a repeat of that tactic should see opportunities for the likes of reinhart tkachuk and barkov with me ultimately landing on reinhart to net one past his former team.

chi +1.5 -165
i almost liked them to win outright at +140 but ultimately landed with the safer bet of not getting blown out. i’ll be against chicago more times than i’ll be on them but have to admit i was impressed with how they responded in that vegas game. They were shutout but watching the game i could argue they deserved at least two goals. Vegas keeper Logan Thompson made some really impressive saves. Stalock was equally impressive and i would feel better if he got the nod off that performance rather than immediately going back to Mrazek. Sharks with a weird schedule start. back to back losses in prague, 5 days off followed by back to back games again. 4 goals in their first 3 games and attempting only 19 shots in their home opener. And that was with 5 power plays last night. Hawks have conceded only 2 even strength goals against two offenses much more potent than the one they’ll face tonight. And i don’t even need them to win but wouldn’t be surprised if they did off the effort and response i saw them give in vegas.

bruins 1st period-1.5 and pastrnak to score +475. i wanted to do something super greedy with this game. arizona got blitzed against pittsburgh and conceded 6 goals on 52 shots and found themselves down 3-0 after the first. Crosby Guentzel and Malkin had 3 goals on 18 shots. Pastrnak should be one of the leaders in ice time, already starting his season off with a goal and three helpers on six shots of his own. No reason to think arizona won’t feel a case of deja vu with tonight’s game possibly being more of the same for them.

John

Daily reader, just want to say thanks for keeping this going year after year.

Graeme

You’re welcome John and thanks for taking the time to say that. Much appreciated!

took vancouver -165 over philly. Big disparity at the center position landed me on them. Blowing the three goal lead i expect better performance from them this time out. Also took Kuzmenko to score +280. Continuing my degeneracy with goal scorers i don’t think he’s priced properly by vegas so there is value on him at almost 3 to 1. already netted a goal and playing on the top power play line where vancouver could control the puck for most of this game if successful in the face offs which i fully expect. I also expect philly to play with effort so would not surprise me too much with a philly home win in this situation but the skill disparity is too much for me to not take a small play on it to stay invested in afternoon hockey. Big difference between the line matchups vs the devils to how these same lines matchup vs the likes of miller horvat and pettersson when Kevin Hayes is your number one line center. No knock on hayes
