On Saturday we had two tips and went 2-0.

We had the Leafs to win in regulation against the Senators.   This was a really close game that was tied at 2 late.  But Holl scored for the Leafs with 1:55 left for the 3-2 win.

We also had over 6.5 in the Flames vs Oilers game.  This game got off to a great start with the Flames leading 4-1 after the 1st.  The goals slowed down after that with the only others being 2 more from the Oilers in the 2nd.  It still went over for us with the Flames winning 4-3.

The Kings beat the Wild in a crazy game.  The Kings were up 3-0  halfway through the 1st but the Wild stayed in it.  They managed to tie it midway through the 3rd but Kempe scored his 2nd of the game for the 7-6 win.

The Hawks picked up their first win when they beat the Sharks 5-2 which moved the Sharks to 0-4.  The Isles got their first win in convincing style when they beat the Ducks 7-1

Another busy night of NHL action with 9 games.

Canucks vs Capitals

The Canucks are 0-2 and haven’t yet found their game.  The Caps are coming into this game after picking up their 1st win when the beat the Habs.  A win against Montreal isn’t exactly something that earns you bragging rights but a wins a win.

With them still at home I do think the Capitals can win this game.  But the Canucks are due for a win and getting their first against the Caps would set them in the right direction.

Panthers vs Bruins

This should be a good game between two teams with 2-0 records.

I’m not sure who is going to win this game as it’s two quality teams off to good starts and it’s sure to be a fun one to watch.

I’m skipping this game.

Ducks vs Rangers

The Ducks have had a rough start to the season.  They won game 1 but it was in OT against the Kraken and they lost game 2 7-1 to the Isles.

The Rangers win their first 2 games but lost their 3rd to the Jets.

With them back at home the Rangers should get back into the win column here.  But they did just lose to the Jets and we would need to take them in regulation.  I’ll skip this game and regret it when the Rangers destroy but not confident enough in them yet.

Penguins vs Canadiens

The Penguins have looked good so far this season.  It’s only been 2 games but both were won by 6-2 scores against the Lightning and the Coyotes.

The Habs beat the Leafs but lost to the Caps and Wings.

I like the Pens chances to win here but it needs to be in regulation.  The odds for that are only around 1.74 which is too low for me.  With the Habs at home I’m not comfortable taking the Pens -1.5 despite their record and results so far this season so I’ll skip this one.

Coyotes vs Leafs

The Coyotes are 0-2 and the Leafs responded to their opening night loss to the Habs with 2 wins.

The Leafs are the favorites here but all of their games so far were decided by 1 goal including the lose.  To get any value we would need to take them -2.5 which is only around 2.00 odds which is not worth the risk for the payout.  Skipping this game.

Kings vs Red Wings

The Kings picked up their 1st win in their last game when they beat the Wild in a crazy game.  The Wings are 2-0 after beating the Habs and the Devils.

This game could go either way.  Both of these teams I want to see  play more before I bet for or against them.

Avalanche vs Wild

The Avs are 1-1 after beating the Hawks 5-2 and losing to the Flames 5-3.

The Wild aren’t playing very well defensively which Zuccarello made clear after their last game when he said “We play defense like ‘a f——g junior team'”.  They have played 2 games and allowed 7 goals in each game.

With the Wild just leaking goals I’ll follow that trend and go with the Over for this game.

Jets vs Stars

The Jets are 1-0 and the Stars are 2-0.  The Jets should have some momentum after beating the Rangers in their 1st game. The Stars won both of their games against the Preds.

With it early in the season and the Jets only playing 1 game, the Stars 2,  I want to wait and see how they do with more games under their belt.

Hurricanes vs Kraken

This seems like a big mismatch.  The Canes are 2-0 and a legit threat to win it all this year.  The Kraken are 1-1-1 and aren’t expected to make the playoffs.

The Canes are such a strong team that I feel comfortable taking them in regulation.

Thanks Scott. Agree with Canes. I’m also taking NYR if Igor is in net. Halak got the start vs Jets and he’s a back-up for a reason.

Win moneyline: Carolina
Full game OVER 6.0: Carolina
Canes have an IDEAL setup for a western loop; they’ve just had 2 days off and then have two more days off, of seafood dinners before hitting Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver, with no back-to-back games in there. Sweet scheduling to take advantage of. Canes will be looking at 4 points out of tonight and Vancouver and hoping for a split out of Alberta. So I think they’ll be aiming to win this game. Seattle is showing relatively high numbers for goals for and against, so this looks like a busy game around the twines. Seattle started the season with a back-to-back, then a loss, and single-day offs in the near future. I have heard ex-NHL players say the fatigue from a back-to-back can linger, and hit hardest on the second day after, not necessarily in the second game, but the day after and the game after that, they’ll be less than 100%. Travel (especially eastward or multiple time zones) can intensify the problem, to which teams react strategically, so tonight, well-rested Carolina has situational factors working FOR it and Seattle not so much.

As of this writing, still no confirmation of goalie for the Rangers, but a Rangers win is on my radar.
Looking at the OVER for the Detroit and Colorado games.

Good evening from Germany, no bets for me at the weekend, after having a really bad start into the season. So, reset for me. I agree with your tips, but I hate games, when there is a big favorite with all the stats say yes they’ll win. So I stay away from CanesKraken.

Just 1.78 for over @ Minnesota. So stay away from this too, hope to be awake later for getting this as a live bet.

For me too high are the odds for the Canadiens. Yeah, of course the Pens started great and the Canadiens being the Canadiens the first three games, but come on Montreal is playing at home and it is the first away game for the Pens. So I think everything is possible and the 2.50 for the Canadiens is not so far to reach, than it seems to be.

Let’s see what will happen.

Good luck, everyone!

Graeme

Hey Chris – just want to say respect for taking the weekend off. Too many people make the mistake of being desperate and trying to win their money back. It’s always good to take a break and take the time to reassess. Good luck tonight!

Thanks for your words. What you wrote is exactly, what I’ve done so many times, but I’ve learned my lessons and being able to wait for the next bet.

Thank you for tips! Already follow you guys for a couple of years;-) enjoying your passion for the game! Most of the time I bet on soccer games, with sometimes one of your tips for a combo. Now I try to bet more on goalscorers. Ofcourse Connor McDavid is a good pick for single or combo. Last thursday I had a good night with Matthew Tkachuk scored against the Islanders. I am watching your favorites to win the game or a game that will go over to pick a goalscorer. There is some good value on it, but offcourse it’s maybe a little bit more gambling. Feel free to add a goalscorer to your story of you have somebody in your mind.

Greetings from Holland!

Graeme

Great to hear from you! Always love hearing from our European audience as well. Player props such as goalscorers etc – it’s something I’d love to focus more on at some point, as I feel like there can be a lot of value there at times.

I’ve played around with it a bit. Recorded player prop data for a week, went back and looked at it in retrospect and spotted some interesting opportunities, but I’ve just never found the time to really dive into it in too much detail.
