We had two tips last from last night’s action and we went 1-1.

First we had the Flyers to win the 1st period against the Kraken.  They certainly did do just that outscoring them 3-0 in the opening frame and won the game 6-1.  The Flyers actually scored the first 5 goals of the game.   With the win the Flyers spoiled the return of former head coach Dave Hakstol,  now the coach of the Kraken.

We also had the Maple Leafs to win if Matthews played.   Matthews did make his season debut but it didn’t help the Leafs when the Rangers won 2-1 in OT.   Matthews played almost 23 minutes and took 8 shots.

The Ducks beat the Flames 3-2 in overtime.  The Ducks are 2-1 so far this season and their goalie Gibson is 2-0.  The Flames are 0-1-1.

The final game of the night was the Blues vs the Coyotes.  The Blues won 7-4. Hutton got the start for the Coyotes and didn’t have a good game allowing 6 goals on 21 shots.  Kyrou and Kostin both scored 2 goals each in the 2nd period for the Blues.

We have 11 games tonight let’s go through and see what we can find.

Canucks vs Sabres Betting Tips:

The Canucks are the favorites in this one.  Seems strange based on the results so far this season.  The Sabres are 2-0 and don’t have Eichel.

I personally don’t buy the Sabres success so far.  I think the Canucks will be a team to watch out for.   But with the small sample size we have to go on I feel it best to skip this game.

Stars vs Penguins Betting Tips:

The Penguins have had good success so far this season and they have done so without Crosby and Malkin.

The Stars are 1-2 including dropping their last game to the Sens.   The Pens have beat the Lightning and the Blackhawks and lost in overtime to the Panthers.

With the Pens still at home I like their chances here.  Was going to take them in regulation but instead I’ll go the safer route and take them including OT.

Pens win incl OT/SO

Kraken vs Devils Betting Tips:

The Kraken have played 4 games this season and have gone 1-2-1.  The Devils have played once and the beat the Hawks in overtime.

With the Kraken a brand new team and the Devils only playing one game this season, there isn’t enough to go by so I’ll skip this game.

Panthers vs Lightning Betting Tips:

These are always great games.  The 2-0 Panthers vs the 2-1 Lightning.

With the Lightning now without Kucherov you would have to think the Panthers have the advantage in this game.

But I instead will go with the Over here.  Whenever it’s the Battle of Florida it’s usually a great game.   The Panthers two games have had goal totals of 6 and 9, the Lightning three games had totals of 3, 13 and 8.

Over 6 incl OT/SO

Sharks vs Canadiens Betting Tips:

The Canadiens are the favorites here.  They have played 3 games this season and lost all 3.  The Sharks are 1-0.

There is value in taking the Sharks in this but I can’t advise it with Montreal at home.

Avalanche vs Capitals Betting Tips:

Two powerhouse clubs here.  Both teams will be at the top of the standings for most of the year.  But I’ll skip it with ease at this point

Blue Jackets vs Red Wings Betting Tips:

I have no idea who wins this game.  The odds are basically a coin flip so I’ll skip this one.

Jets vs Wild Betting Tips:

The Jets are a better team than their results would suggest.  The Wild having their home opener here so it’s an easy pass for us

Kings vs Predators Betting Tips:

The Kings have been the better team so far this season.  The Predators are still at home and have yet to win a game this season.  They are the favorites for this one so the bookies must like their chances but I don’t know.  If the Kings had better odds I would take them but instead I’ll skip as it’s not worth it.

Islanders vs Blackhawks Betting Tips:

Either team has been good this year.  The Isles are the better team but the Hawks are playing in their home opener so it’s an easy pass here.

Ducks vs Oilers Betting Tips:

Oilers heavy favorites in this one.  Both teams are off to good starts, the Ducks are 2-1, the Oilers 2-0.

There isn’t any value in taking the Oilers here so it’s another pass.

Blackhawks to win if we don’t concede within 20 seconds of puck drop

Glentworthblues19

Ducks/Oilers – Oilers -1.5 Ducks b2b . Might be tight first half but the oil rested legs, P.P will overcome
Kraken/Devils- Devils ML kraken b2b 5th road game straight to start their season, tough schedule
King/Preds – Kings ML wrong team is favourites here. Kopitar and Doughty are on fire to start the season

Graeme

Yeah I said to Scott earlier – I’d push for the Kings if there were better odds. It was 2.10 when we discussed earlier. Just not enough for me. I’d need minimum 2.20.

Now I see them 2.24 at BetOnline I say that’s a play. Solid value.

That was a lot of passing. How do you feel for the over/under early on in the season?

Graeme

Not really – going back to the beginning of the site, we’d generally limit ourselves to 2-3 tips per day. Just now we do some quick analysis / throw notes in about other games that we aren’t tipping.

Overs seemed a bit mental initially but seems like it’s settling down now.

Graeme

Also just to quickly add to that – at this stage in the season, it’s definitely very easy to pass on games. Still so many question marks.

A card of mostly “I have no idea”, so early in the season. Looking forward to NBA, AHL, NCAAB startups shortly, to supplement Euro soccer and NCAAF.

Tonight: Full game OVER 5.5: Panthers/Lightning
(feeling very good about that one)
Dangerous Leans: Edmonton and Minnesota to win ML.

Problem with the Edmonton matchup is that they expect Anaheim to be flat on a back-to-back, and to be near the bottom of the Division, so Oilers won’t be too excited tonight, AND, Anaheim looked pretty good against Calgary (wow the Flames are weak in the offensive zone!), and if they have anything left in the tank, I can see a dull checking game going either way. Oilers then have two days off before playing Arizona, then Vegas, so this is an uninspiring week of competitors for the Oilers; that spells danger to betting. I don’t know why Winnipeg looks so uncoordinated, but they do, so Minnesota may claim this one without much fuss.

Hello Graeme and Scott from Greece! I wish a good hockey year. For tonight i think its time for the first win for Habs so 15units Habs ML…good luck to everyone
