A good night last night with the tips as we went 1-0.

We had the Red Wings in regulation against the Ducks.  They looked great and won 5-1.  The Ducks are 0-4-1 since their season opening win against the Kraken and have been outscored 23-9 during this run.

Next we had the Flyers in regulation against the Sharks if Hart got the start.  Sandstrom got the start for the Flyers so we didn’t have a tip and that’s a good thing as the Sharks won 3-0.  Reimer picked up his 26th career shutout.

The Hawks beat the Kraken for their 3rd straight win. Johnson and Dickinson scored 13 seconds apart for the Hawks in the 3rd for the comeback win.  The Jackets beat the Rangers 5-1 and Tarasov picked up his first NHL win for Columbus.  The final game of the night saw the Panthers beat the Islanders 3-2.

We have 6 games tonight.

Capitals vs Devils

The Caps have basically alternated wins and losses this season.  The lost their first two, won the next two then lost and won.  The Devils are riding a 3 game win streak into this game.

The Caps are 0-2 on the road this season having lost to the Leafs and Sens.  The Devils are 2-1 at home.

The Devils are favored here so there is value in taking the Caps but with them riding a 3 game win streak it’s a tough game to try and predict.

Stars vs Senators

The Stars are off to a good start going 4-0-1.  The Sens are 3-2 and have won their 3 games in a row heading into this game.

Both teams have been good so far.  The Sens are at home where they have gone 3-0.

I want to take the Sens here but the Stars have played well.   I feel better just avoiding this game.  It’s tough to predict a winner when both have been playing well.

Penguins vs Oilers

The Pens are embracing the luxury of having all three of their stars back and are 4-0-1 to start the season.  They now play their next 3 games in Western Canada.

The Oilers haven’t been very good for their standards and expectations. They are 2-3 so far.  This is the last home game for them before they head on the road for the first time this season.

If the Oilers can win this game that would bring them to 3-3.  With the way they have been playing that would be a big win to be at .500.  I expect them to come out swinging here but the Pens have been good so it’s another game that’s tough to call.

All but one of the Pens games this season have gone over and same thing for the Oilers.  So I’m going to follow that trend.

Blues vs Jets

The Blues are 3-0 to start the year.  The Jets have gone 2-3 but have had a tough schedule to start.  Their 2 wins came against some tough teams beating the Rangers and the Avalanche in OT but lost to the Stars,  Knights and Leafs.

The Blues have only played 3 games this season but have looked great in the small sample.  The Jets have shown already that they can beat strong teams.

Leafs vs Knights

Both teams are 4-2 and are getting solid goaltending.   The Leafs Samsonov is 3-0 with a 1.96 GAA and a .927 save percentage and Thompson is 2-1 with a 2.02 GAA and a .938 save percentage.

The Leafs losses came against some weaker competition losing to the Habs and the Coyotes where the Knights have lost to a couple powerhouse teams the Flames and the Avalanche.

This should be a good game and I looked at taking the over 6.5 but the Leafs have gone over only once this season and that was their 1st game.  Both teams are in the top 10 in goals allowed with the Leafs in 8th with 2.50 GAPG and the Knights 3rd with 2.17.  I have to skip this game

Hurricanes vs Canucks

The Canes have done what was expected of them this season and have a good record to show for it.  They have gone 3-1-1 but their 2 loss have came in their last 2 games one to the Oilers and the other in OT to the Flames.

The Canucks have been bad.  Much like last year I expected them to be a solid team and fight for a spot in the postseason.  They have gone 0-4-2 to start the season.

I have to back the Canes here until the Canucks give us a reason not to bet against them.

Thank you!

Your write ups are a blessing.
Uk NHL fan over here and games are hard to watch.
Have tried a few different apps but none with any success, anyone know a good stream which would work in England for me to watch some more matches?
Thanks in advanced Dani

Pens vs oilers. “New” Oilers, same problems in goal and defense. I’m going to take a chance on Pens win and Pens over 3.5 TT.

Graeme

Their xGA/60 at the moment is 3.51. Last season after the same amount of games, it was 2.58. Mental.

To WIN on the Puckline: Carolina
Full game Over 6.0: Oilers
Leans: to WIN: St. Louis and Dallas, moneyline

I HATE betting on any Penguins game, but I consider this matchup one of the few unique situations every season, as obviously the superstar matchups bring out the offense on both these teams for the full 60 minutes. Goals galore may not happen, but Over the 6.0 seems highly likely.
Geez, what to say about Vancouver? Carolina just lost two games in Alberta (Buffalo won both of theirs, remember that!) and will be eager to take the 2 points, and be angry rascals on top of that. The Canucks main problem is their whole defensive effort in every aspect, according to commentators and stats. Psychologically, they’re totally out of phase at all levels. They’re screwed. That kind of disarray takes major interventions and time to fix. Tonight, Carolina to win on the moneyline, and the puckline just seems likely, although at risk if Carolina sees an easy win and takes it easy. The Canucks can score at a league average rate, so the Canes (who are great defensively) will still have to play the game to win. Situations suggest they’ll want this one badly, with resolve.

St. Louis has had an ideal scheduling setup so far and will for a while. I expect them to take advantage of this and aim to pick up wins every game. Jets are OK but haven’t faced an opponent this tough yet. Dallas game I’m still looking at. Ottawa’s full of beans this year, great to see.

Graeme

I’m loving Ottawa. Goaltending is letting them down drastically at this point (based on the metrics). If one of their goalies get hot or they pick up a better goalie) they could be a real force. Something I’ll be looking out for – as soon as a goalie looks like he’s going on a hot streak, they will be a team to back.

SdBruinsD

I’m betting it’s not going to Magnus Hellberg, who was last seen getting lit up in the KHL.

SdBruinsD

Some random thoughts:
prop Charlie Lindgren over 31.5 saves (not SOG) – Devils avg 39.2, lowest in L5 36

John Carlson (Was) o2.5 SOG – o/u L5 4-1

SdBruinsD

Batherson 2+ pts +250 L3 2-2-3

Tkachuk 2+ pts +200 L3 2-2-3

Sens-Stars o6.5 -115 – L3 Home Sens 8-7-12 (Magnus Hellberg v Wedgewood)
