16 games yesterday and I had 2 tips.

The Wings scored 1st but the Kraken answered with 3 of their own. The Wings scored 3 powerplay goals in the 3rd to take the lead and the Kraken tied it and forced overtime where they won it 5-4 ending the Wings win streak at 5. Larkin and DeBrincat continued their great starts in the loss. I took the Wings to win.

I went with over 6.5 in the Hurricanes vs Lightning game and it wasn’t close when the Lightning won 3-0. The Canes were averaging 4.50 goals per game but got shutout here. Johansson got the win but he had given up 18 goals over his 5 games this season. This one stung but it happens.

Austin Matthews scored so the Leafs won 4-1 against the Capitals and the Leafs only had 17 shots. After scoring only 13 goals so far this season the Sabres came alive and won 6-4 against the Sens. The Pens scored 1st but the Stars answered with 4 of their own and won 4-1.

The Devils beat the Habs 5-2 with Toffoli scoring a hat trick, the Avalanche didn’t care that they were playing a strong defensive team when they beat the Isles 7-4. The Wild beat the Oilers 7-4, the Ducks picked up their 2nd win of the season when they beat the Jackets 3-2 in OT and Knights beat the Flyers 3-2.

From one extreme to the other for us tonight with only one game.

Capitals vs Devils Betting Tips:

The Caps have had a terrible start to the season. They have won only once in 5 games played. Was nice to see Ovechkin score yesterday but still something needs to happen for them and soon.

The Devils won last night and are now 3-1-1 so far.

This is the Caps first back to back game, the Devils have had one and it was at the start of the year and they lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Coyotes.

With so little data to go by its hard to bet on this game.

I do like the Devils chances with the way the Caps have been playing but we would need to take them -1.5. The Devils have had 2 of their 5 games need extra time and all of their games, except for last nights, have been decided by a single goal.

I’m skipping this game.

Lean only: Jersey moneyline

While both teams are reasonably well rested going into this back-to-back, and it’s after they’ve both played some games, my problem is Washington is in panic mode, while Jersey, the much better team, will be looking at a standard performance, so Washington is due to give a surprise performance soon. They have major problems; they are producing low shot and goal counts, and their penalty killing and powerplay are horrible. Jersey’s specialty teams are doing very well. Yesterday, the Caps were playing very out of ordinary to get a goal and were flinging themselves at the goal. That is not a set play or system, and panic is happening. Not worth it.

NJ regulation -155

I know Washington will be starting Hunter Shepard for this game. I don’t much about him and his prospect skills. I know he’s 27 and went undrafted. But looks like he has some minor league success both in their regular season and playoffs. I also know did have to travel back home after last nights win. But I do think they are better suited and set up to handle the back to back.

Ovechkin had the 2nd most minutes of the forwards on Washington yesterday and had 14 shots. Washington will now have to play a young team that likes to play fast. So far this season, Washington looks like it doesn’t have the offensive fire power or the players to step up and they continue to rely on Ovechkin and look at him as a 40 goal scorer, with not much help around him.

As the only game being played today, I like the Devils chances to win in regulation here.
