Halloween came one day early in the NHL with some spooky upsets taking place last night.

We had two strong favourites in the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Islanders were incredibly motivated and were able to get a big 6-3 victory in that one.

The Blue Jackets were down 3-0 against Detroit and came back to tie it. It was an incredible third period comeback yet it wasn’t enough as full credit to the Wings – they were able to get back into the game and win.

The Dallas Stars were slight underdogs against the Montreal Canadiens but blew them away 4-1 in a surprise. Philly pulled off a 3-2 victory over the Ducks and the Rangers pulled off the biggest upset of the night as they defeated the San Jose Sharks 4-3 in a shootout.

I backed Over 5.5 in the Coyotes/Senators game in the comments yesterday so hopefully some of you got on that. It wasn’t an official tip of course and won’t count in the stats but if there’s ever a game we don’t tip and you’re curious on our thoughts feel free to ask in the comments. Always happy to give opinion as we analyze every game even if we don’t actually tip.

Our KHL tip of Barys -1.5 came in yesterday which was nice as Barys won 2-0. We’d probably have a positive record in the KHL if I didn’t start the tips so early there. Have to remember that for next season.

Quick note that most of the e-mail we were getting went to our junk mail folder and I just noticed it today. I went in and answered everything but if I missed an e-mail shoot us one again at betnhl.ca@gmail.com. Always happy to help out.

Just the one game tonight and it’s a late West Coast one. Would like to say I’ll get to bed early for a change but think I’ll be staying up to watch Warriors vs Pelicans. Warriors were insane last game and I want to see what they’ve got tonight and if they can follow that. On that note as a reminder I’m doing NBA Betting Tips over at NBATips.net and just clocked a 3-0 night! Hope to keep that going.

No Tips in the Blackhawks vs Canucks Game Today.

It’s one of those games where I think you could easily argue for the over, for the Blackhawks to win or the Canucks to win.

I was very tempted to back the Canucks when I saw they were home underdogs. Petterson is back and they just came off that great Minnesota win. However I’m seeing some places say that Bachman is in net tonight. Not sure if that’s the case and really stats wise in the NHL he’s fairly solid but he’s had a bad run of it at the Utica Comets. Even if he isn’t in net tonight the Canucks are pretty damn banged up.

This is a “rivalry” game and while it’s not as big as it once was, the core Blackhawks players still remember how it used to be and will treat it as such. We know what they can do offensively but I haven’t been too impressed with them the last couple games.

Basically a lot of questions and better to skip that one.
