We make it 4 winning nights in a row, as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the New York Rangers in regulation time.

Of course the game didn’t go as expected and while we won, my reasoning was off. I had a feeling Mrazek was going to be in net but I felt him and the Hurricanes defense would be up to the task. Um….no. I thought fatigue would eventually be an issue for the Rangers and that did seem to factor in – they seemed to drop a bit as the game went on and the Hurricanes took over in the third period.

Either way a hell of a game and nice to see a great performance from the Canes when it comes to scoring goals.

Leafs had a hell of a game against the Blackhawks and won 7-6 in overtime. What a game that was. The Kings put the bad news of Quick on IR behind them as they won 4-2 over the Red Wings. Campbell pulled off 36 saves in that one.

No tips today. Thoughts on games:

Game Thoughts:

Ducks vs Red Wings: I came extremely close to going with the Ducks here but I just couldn’t pull the trigger. They had a win over a Sharks team who are still finding their way, and then beat the Coyotes 1-0. Both games were thanks to Gibson and he saw 41 shots on net in that last one. They’ve lost Getzlaf and it’s going to be hard to count on them for goals. Red Wings have had a couple of battling games but will be missing Daley.

I love backing a hot goalie and I’m going to be backing the Ducks a lot this season I expect but with the injuries and just needing to see more from his teammates – I’ll pass.

Senators vs Bruins: The price on the Senators has me wanting to back them badly. They’ve showed two solid performances so far. I may end up betting it as it just seems based on performances there’s some value there but I can’t advise it. Bruins might be focused for a few games after that Capitals loss plus it being the home opener and Rask out to prove….I do think Sens would be the right bet based on the odds.

Sharks vs Islanders: Thornton is on IR. Sharks are still figuring things out and the Islanders are coming off a feisty performance against the Predators. Sharks should win this one but would have to take them in regulation and I feel there’ll be beter spots.

Knights vs Sabres: Knights are coming off a solid win over a tough Minnesota team. They looked good and it’s been a real set of Jekyll and Hyde performances to start the season especially defensively. Just want to see a bit more consistency from them though and I think it’s hard to guage where the Sabres are at at the moment.
