A frustrating losing night last night.

Losing happens – but sometimes they tease you and that’s what happened last night. We had the Predators to win and Johansen took just 2:35 to get his first goal, and get them off to a winning start. Awesome. Then Avs score twice. But Preds tie it up. Then Avs score again – but Preds tie it up again. And then Avs run away with it in the 3rd period.

Then there was the Oilers. 2-0 up against the Lightning and looking good. Then Tampa score once. Okay no big deal. But then they score twice within a minute and that was all she wrote.

Ugh.

Other than that it was an enjoyable night of hockey. Boston in particular looked really good on the road as they hit the 3,000 win mark. Although much like “who was the 2nd man on the moon” – no-one really cares. Habs achieved that first and that’s all that matters!

Alright it’s Saturday, January 9th,. A lot of hockey today let’s get to it:

Capitals vs Rangers Betting Tips:

I don’t have the stats to back it up – but it always feels like the early games are generally low scoring. Something I’ll have to look into at some point – could just be selective memory.

However I’m hoping that’s not the case today as I’ll be taking Over 5 goals in this one. The two matchups they have had this season have been explosive and the Rangers didn’t seem to miss Kreider in their last game against the Stars.

Both offenses have the ability to really go off and I’ll be backing them to do just that in this game.

Sharks vs Leafs Betting Tips:

The Leafs have been a lot better team lately – and “home ice advantage” isn’t really anything you want to bring up around any San Jose fans considering how poor their team have been at home. Amongst the bottom 5 when it comes to scoring at home – yet they concede on average 3.06 goals per game when playing at the SAP Center.

Despite that – they usually match up well with the Leafs, and I think they have enough value to be worth a play tonight. I actually expected them to be much better favourites. They’re coming off two frustrating losses at home against the Wings and the Jets and I think that spurs them along.

Sharks to win.

OHL Betting Tips:

Record is 11-7, +5.82 units.

Tonight we have Niagara Ice Dogs to win at 1.60 odds, and Over 7 goals in Windsor Spitfires vs Barrie Colts at 1.90 odds.

Rangers win and Nash score.

There have definitely been some high scoring day games. I took the under in the NYR/MTL game at MSG earlier in the year and there were like 2 or 3 goals in the first period alone.

Yesterday stung.

The Edm/TB game last night is a classic example of why it’s so important to maintain a bankroll like Graeme and Scott strongly suggest and that includes betting on the ‘underdog’. Oilers played their game. They scored 1st, lead 2-0 after 2 periods and then 3 lucky deflections/bounces off the Oilers. and TB wins 3-2. You just never know. Just like the players have to stay disciplined to win, so do we. ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck tonight!

Pitt ML — Penguins been playing well despite losses to Blackhawks. They have had success at Montreal, and the Habs have been alternating wins and losses..so go with Crosby and the gang here.

LAKings in reg — St. Louis continues to blow leads in the third quarter. It hasn’t just been a recent trend and there’s a long enough sample size that shows they just lose their focus in the third period. If Quick is in goal, I like the Kings to continue their terrific play at home and come away with a win.

GL all!

Nice job with the WSH@RAN bet. Flyers with another impressive performance. After the trade this week I thought they’ll break apart, but they didn’t. Good to see they get back on track.

Anybody here with suggestions for a 2 or 3 team parlay? Thinking about ML Bruins, ML Canadiens, ML Predators.

Been putting kinda lazy effort on my bets lately – for some reason every year it’s the same around christmas time. But too many losing nights get the motivation going again, trying to do my best tonight.

I think PIT-MON will be quite even game but Pens are more hungry for a win after losing 2 in a row and despite winning a couple of games recently Habs are still not on a roll or anything. They’re without Petry&Weise and im fairly confident Condon will get burned in important moments tonight as the Pens have a lot of firepower. Fleury is very underrated still, he can make those key saves in Pens end that can easily turn into a goal for them. Pens haven’t been screwing up leads lately so it’s all about if they can get the lead and i believe they can – 2.60 solid odds IMO.

Ottawa wants to avoid 2-game losing streaks at any cost now that they’re slowly slipping out of playoff contention. I feel like they’ve played pretty well recently and the results will come soon as long as they keep the effort level high and im sure they know this as well. Home crowd + Boston + B’s played and traveled last night = i think the Sens have a great chance winning this. They can hold leads surprisingly well but the problem is they haven’t got them a lot, but they always play well at home when they have their effort level up and this is exactly the type of game – they couldn’t score a lot against the Panthers since everything is going their way right now which is to be expected on a 10+ winning streak i guess, but tonight i could see the Sens offense explode against below average B’s defense. 2.50 is a solid value. ALSO i believe there’s going to be a good amount of goals as Boston is a pretty good offensive team. Over 5 makes sense.

Leafs are incredibly resilient at the moment, it took the Kings all they had to beat them on home ice and even then it was only a one goal game. Sharks are pretty much the opposite, at least at home. We all know Sharks bring the effort night in night out because they want to get rid of this slump, and normally i’d say they could probably do it after a close game just because better effort+better team most of the time means you win, but the Leafs are not going empty-handed in the motivation department – this is their only chance to get back at SJS for their earlier loss against them this season, so i expect this game to be the kind of game where San Jose pushes and the Leafs are playing with the “nope, not this time” mentality. And that’s what they’re good at, Bernier making a lot of saves and Leafs striking with their counter-attacks that are effective at the moment i don’t see the Sharks winning this, at least in regulation. Looking at the odds, Toronto’s 3.05 is very tempting, and i think im going for it.

That’s it for explanations.

Some other good picks tonight:
CAR-CBJ OT
Wild
Coyotes
Bolts
Kings

Wow Leafs with a stinker, not many times you see this in a season ๐Ÿ˜€

Seems like the picks i didn’t bother to explain were the best ones today.
