10 games yesterday.

My tip of the Wild to win in regulation against the Coyotes came through but was really stressful watching.  The Wild were able to score twice on the empty net for the 4-1 win.

The Rangers vs Canes game was a good one but not a high scoring one when the Rangers won 1-0 and this was the 2nd straight shutout for Shesterkin.  The Wings lost their 6th straight when the Sabres won 7-3.  The Sens beat the Pens 2-1 in overtime.

The Panthers were down 3-1 after the 2nd but managed to score 3 unanswered late in the 3rd and won 4-3.  The Knights beat the Kraken 5-4 in overtime after being down 4-2 halfway through the 3rd.

4 games scheduled for tonight.

Kings vs Blues Betting Tips:

Kings are 5-4-1 in last 10.  They have gone 19-9-4 on the road. They rank 20th in goals, 5th in shots, 3rd in goals allowed and 4th in shots allowed.

The Blues are 4-5-1 in last 10.  They rank 26th in goals and shots, 17th in goals allowed and 25th in shots allowed.  At home they have gone 18-11-1.

The Kings rank better in most stats and should win this game but we would need to take them in regulation and with of their last 4 games going to overtime I don’t have enough confidence in that.

Predators vs Jets Betting Tips:

The Predators are 8-0-2 in last 10 and 19-10-3 on the road.   They’re 14th in GPG, 12th in shots, 16th in GAPG and 20th in shots allowed.  Against Central Divison teams they have gone 13-6-1

The Jets are 7-3-0 in last 10 and 22-8-2 at home.  They rank 18th in GPG, 17th in shots, 2nd in GAPG and 7th in shots allowed.  Against Central Divison teams they have gone 16-4-1.

This should be a good game and one that could go either way.  The Preds are trying to stay ahead of the Knights in the wild card and the Jets are trying to catch the Stars and stay ahead of the Avalanche.

Capitals vs Oilers Betting Tips:

Caps are on the outside of the playoffs but within reach.  They have gone 6-3-1 in last 10.  On the road they are 13-14-4.  They’re 29th in goals, 30th in shots, 17th in GAPG and 21st in SOGA.

The Oilers are in 2nd in the Pacific.  They’ve gone 6-3-1 in last 10 and 20-8-2 at home.  They’re 5th in GPG, 2nd in shots, 9th in GAPG and 5th in SOGA.

The Oilers should win this game but we need take them -1.5 but the Caps are scoring and need to gain any points they can to get closer to the postseason.

Avalanche vs Canucks Betting Tips:

The Avalanche are 7-2-1 and won their last 3 games.  On the road they have gone 14-14-5.  They rank 1st in GPG , 8th in shots, 15th in GAPG and 18th in shots allowed.

The Canucks have won their last 4 games and are 5-4-1 in last 10. In Vancouver they have gone 21-6-3.

Demko is out for a couple weeks which will hurt the Canucks as he has been solid this season.  So it’s Georgiev vs DeSmith in goal.  But the Avalanche played last night which has me worried.

With the Avs playing last night I’m off of them and with Demko out I’m off of the Canucks too.

PROP: Avs Rantanen OVER 0.5 Assists

Leans only:
Oilers win 1st Period moneyline
Oilers win full game moneyline
LA wins moneyline

LA needs points and should show up to do battle. I can’t see St. Louis doing well against a “better” team that puts in the effort. LA certainly needs points right now, but LA’s consistency has been a problem for me all season.

Streaking Nashville against a tough Winnipeg could be anything so no deal there.

Avs on a back-to-back and Canucks on 3 days rest. Demko is out injured. If the Avs don’t take the night off, I expect the Avs to attempt some busy blitzing of the Canucks net, which should give Rantanen opportunity for a point, as he’s on an assist heater, 10 of the last 10 games. Can’t make side or O/U bets, with it uncertain how both teams will respond to Demko being out, as part of the equation. Tocchet seems fully confident in goalie DeSmith.

Caps don’t impress me. McDavid recently commented that the Oilers just complete a stretch with many games with few days rest, so this home game should show a refreshed Oilers crew. And it’s still the Caps, there’s no mystery going on.

St. Louis +136 half unit.

I was hoping to get Blues at a price of +145 but it doesn’t look like it’s gonna get there. I can wait till 10 minutes before game time and see if any more public money has come in on the Kings. If Blues climb to +145 or better, I’ll add another half unit at that price.

The other thought I had was taking an UNDER 6.5 total line at -165. I may still make that a play regardless of what happens with the Blues line.

The Kings have gotten most of their recent production from one line. Fiala, Danault and Moore have 16 goals the last 10 games while the rest of the team has added just 9 during that span.

If the Blues can contain that line or they have some regression, the Kings could have a tough time scoring tonight.

Blues were on the road for the last 5 straight. Even more, 8 of their last 9 were away from home going back to February 24. Coming home for this game may give the Blues a solid boost of energy.

On the other hand, the Kings have spent the last 5 games and the entire month of March at home. It’ll be interesting to see if this factors into the game at all. The Blues have actually built themselves a solid home record of 18-11-1. The Kings it’s been well documented most of their struggles have been at home as their road record is 19-9-4.

My concern is the Blues are coming off a 5-1 win over Boston. However the metrics of the game are a bit misleading. The Blues also rarely follow up a night where they score a ton of goals with another high scoring performance. This has me leaning to a potential under as the better play.

However I will still roll the dice on the underdog Blues at home against a potentially overpriced Kings team.

St. Louis currently +136 half unit.
